There are currently seven regular members of our Youth Advisory Group (YAG), and they meet at least once a month. Just click the YAG button to find out more.
Through these advisory panels the OCCJ ensures:
- that we draw on the voice and experience of children and young people (via Youth Advisory Panel) as well as adults with relevant expertise;
- that we maintain strong governance and financial oversight (via Audit & Risk Advisory Panel) and broader strategic input (via Adult Advisory Panel);
- that our independent mandate under the law is supported by external insight and scrutiny;
- that the rights of children and young people remain central in all we do.
Together, these structures support the Commissioner to deliver on our strategic priorities, maintain public trust, and continuously improve how we serve children, young people and families in Jersey.
You can find the panel’s terms of reference here:

Young Adviser
There is no such thing as a ‘typical’ member of our YAG – which is kind of the whole point. We welcome young people from all backgrounds, no matter what their experience, education or prior knowledge of children’s rights. In other words, you don’t have to be an expert in human rights, you just need to be an expert in your own life.
